"My whole life has changed because of it"

Carol

Nick is extremely knowledgable and very easy-going

"I worked with Nick for three months -- twice a week -- to relieve Hip Impingement symptoms that had been bothering me for months. Since I was also recovering from a knee injury when our sessions began, we really had to start from Ground Zero. Now, three months after initially starting with Nick, I am asymptotic and can play basketball & tennis without any pain. We did a lot of mobility and strength work, and also did a fair amount of BFR therapy.

Nick is extremely knowledgable and very easy-going. It was fun training with him and I would highly recommend him."

Jesse

Nick use BFR to help me keep muscle and strength

"I worked with Nick for 2 months, twice a week, to regain wrist mobility after an ulnar osteotomy in December 2017. Nick use BFR to help me keep muscle and strength while I healed, manual massage therapy to regain mobility, and various PT approaches (kettlebells, bands, and body weight) to help me return to normal movement patterns for my entire right arm and upper body.

Nick is gifted at attacking problems from many angles, as well as seeking advice from other specialists and research based evidence to both create and tweak his patient care plan. I would highly recommend Nick because he is both results driven and patient focused in his PT approach."

Dr. Rolnick is the first person I contact

"Dr. Rolnick is an incredible P.T., educator, and overall caring person. He has helped me multiple times with a variety of exercise related questions, as well as nutritional advice. Whenever I have an injury, or I feel any pain or physical discomfort that is muscle related Dr. Rolnick is the first person I contact. He is extremely prompt in responding to my questions (I don't have to wait over a week to get help like other professionals who seem like they never have time) and I am grateful for that. Hopefully I stay injury free, but if I don't Dr. Rolnick is the man I will be seeing!"

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Blood Flow Restriction Training?

Blood Flow Restriction Training (BFR) is a technique that is used to help improve muscle function. Physiotherapy clinics and personal trainers are implementing this therapy to help their clients experience faster recovery from injury and enhance their muscle growth.

BFR uses very low intensity exercises combined with a temporary restriction of blood flow to the muscle.

How does BFR work?

By restricting blood flow to a specific muscle group, the muscle is placed under mechanical stress. This improves hypertrophy in the muscle by decreasing localized oxygen levels and causing cell swelling.

The amazing thing about BFR is the fact that all of these conditions for optimal muscle growth can be met even when training loads are low, making it an excellent therapy for anyone who has undergone surgery or is recovering from an injury.
BFR allows for maximum strength gains, without the risks associated with lifting heavy loads!

What are the side effects of BFR Training?

One of the great things about BFR Training is that there are very few serious side effects when it is performed correctly by a trained professional.

Some of the minor side effects that rarely occur could include:
  • Tingling
  • Numbness
  • Increased delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS)
  • Muscle pain
  • Dizziness
  • Fainting
The best way to avoid these effects is to obtain full training through a well-recognized certification course, like the one offered by the BFR Pros.
